A feed is a collection of playlists that an Apple TV subscribes to. Think of it as a channel: one feed per screen (or per group of screens showing identical content).

Creating a feed

  1. Click the Feeds tab
  2. Click New Feed
  3. Enter a name (e.g., “Main Lobby”, “Kidddo Room 1”, “Worship Stage”)
  4. Click Create
LightLoop generates a unique Feed ID — a 6-character alphanumeric code your Apple TV uses to connect.

Feed ID

The Feed ID is displayed prominently at the top of the feed editor. It looks like AB12CD.
Your server URL is the same for all feeds. Only the Feed ID differs. Share the Feed ID with whoever is setting up the Apple TV.

Adding playlists to a feed

  1. Inside the feed editor, click Add Playlist
  2. Select a playlist from your library
  3. Optionally set a Start Date and End Date to schedule when this playlist is visible in the feed
Playlists appear in the feed in the order they’re listed. Apple TV shows them as a grid the user (or auto-play logic) can browse through.

Scheduling playlist visibility

Each playlist in a feed can have an optional date window:
SettingDescription
Start dateThe playlist won’t appear in the feed until this date
End dateThe playlist is automatically hidden after this date
This is useful for seasonal content: add your Christmas playlist now with Start: Dec 1 and End: Jan 1 — it appears and disappears automatically.

Feed settings

Click Settings in the feed editor to configure:

Orientation

OptionDescription
Landscape (default)Standard 16:9 horizontal layout
Portrait LeftScreen rotated 90° counter-clockwise
Portrait RightScreen rotated 90° clockwise
Set this to match how your physical screen is mounted. The Apple TV’s entire interface rotates to match.

Screensaver

Toggle Prevent screensaver to stop the Apple TV from going to sleep or activating its screensaver during playback. Recommended for lobby displays.

Subtitles

Toggle Enable subtitles to automatically show subtitle tracks when available on a video. Useful for accessibility or for rooms where audio isn’t ideal.

Timed playlists (scheduled broadcasts)

Beyond simple date windows, you can schedule a specific playlist to take over a feed at an exact time — weekly or as a one-time event. See Scheduling for the full guide.

Removing a playlist from a feed

Hover over the playlist in the feed editor and click the remove icon. The playlist is removed from the feed but not deleted from your library. Apple TVs subscribed to this feed will receive the update and purge the cached files for that playlist.

Deleting a feed

Open the feed, scroll to Danger Zone, and click Delete Feed. Any Apple TVs connected to this feed will disconnect and return to the setup screen.
Deleting a feed is permanent. Apple TVs using this Feed ID will stop receiving updates and cannot reconnect with the same ID.
