Connecting Google Calendar
Google Calendar integration requires an expanded Google OAuth scope (
calendar.readonly) beyond what’s needed for file storage. You’ll be asked to authorize this separately.- Click your profile picture → Integrations
- Find Google Calendar and click Connect
- Sign in with your Google account and grant
calendar.readonlyaccess - LightLoop lists all calendars visible to that Google account
Creating a calendar display
- In the Media library, click Add Calendar
- Select Google Calendar
- Choose which calendar(s) to include (you can show multiple calendars on one display)
- Configure the display:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Label shown at the top of the display (e.g., “This Week at First Church”) |
| Events to show | How many upcoming events to display (1–20) |
| Date range | How far ahead to look (today, this week, 30 days, etc.) |
| Text size | Small, medium, or large — adjust for viewing distance |
- Save — the calendar item appears in your library
- Add it to any playlist
Auto-refresh
The calendar display always shows current data. LightLoop re-renders the JPEG image on a regular schedule so upcoming events stay accurate — no manual refresh needed.Display layout
Events are displayed in a clean, readable layout optimized for TV viewing:- Event name (large text)
- Date and time
- Location (if set in the calendar event)
- Color coding by calendar (when showing multiple calendars)
Use cases
- Lobby display — Show this week’s services and events as people arrive
- Hallway — Show room bookings and group meeting times
- Kidddo check-in area — Show when classes start and end
- Office screen — Display staff meeting schedule
Multiple calendars
You can pull from multiple Google Calendars on one display — for example, your “Services” calendar and your “Events” calendar combined. Each calendar can be a different color in the display.Disconnecting
