Control Mode turns your iOS device into a full operator console. You can browse any playlist in the feed, tap to trigger items on the Apple TV, and watch a live 16:9 preview of exactly what’s showing on screen.

Playlist browser

At the top of the screen, a horizontal row of chips lists every playlist in the active feed. Swipe left or right to scroll through them. Tap a chip to load that playlist’s item grid below. The currently selected playlist chip is highlighted. Switching playlists does not interrupt playback — the Apple TV continues playing whatever is active until you explicitly trigger a new item.

Item grid

Below the playlist chips, items are displayed in an adaptive grid of 16:9 thumbnail cards.
  • The currently playing item is highlighted with a yellow border so you can always see what’s live at a glance.
  • Tap any card to trigger that item on the Apple TV immediately.
  • The grid auto-scrolls to keep the active item visible whenever playback advances.
If you have a long playlist, the grid scrolls to the active item automatically each time content changes on the Apple TV — so you never lose your place during a live service.

Song and Bible inline expansion

Song and Bible items have an expand indicator. Tap a Song or Bible card to expand it inline, revealing each individual slide (for Songs) or verse (for Bible). Each slide or verse is tappable and triggers that specific slide directly on the Apple TV. Tap the item header again to collapse the expansion and return to the standard grid view.

Live preview panel

A 16:9 preview panel at the top of the screen (above the playlist chips on iPhone, or in a sidebar on iPad) mirrors what is currently displayed on the Apple TV in real time. The preview refreshes continuously so you always have an accurate view of the output — useful when the Apple TV is in a different room or mounted out of line of sight.

Timeline scrubber

Beneath the preview panel, a timeline scrubber shows the current position within a video item. Drag the scrubber to jump to any point in the video. For non-video items (images, songs, Bible), the scrubber is hidden.

iPad layout

On iPad, Control Mode offers two layout options:
The default iPad layout keeps the live preview in a compact panel alongside the full item grid, so you can browse and monitor simultaneously without switching views. This is the recommended layout for operators who need maximum context.
Tap the expand toggle in the corner of the preview panel to enter expanded layout, where the preview fills a larger portion of the screen. This is useful when you need a closer look at the output — for example, when checking text legibility or video timing.Your layout preference is saved automatically and restored the next time you open Control Mode.

iPhone landscape fullscreen preview

On iPhone, rotate to landscape orientation to enter fullscreen preview mode. The live 16:9 preview expands to fill the screen, giving you a clean, full-width view of the Apple TV output. Rotate back to portrait to return to the standard playlist browser and item grid.
Triggering items is not available while in landscape fullscreen preview on iPhone. Rotate to portrait to interact with the item grid.
