# LightLoop Remote

> Turn your iPhone or iPad into a wireless controller and confidence monitor for your Apple TV.

LightLoop Remote is a free iOS companion app that connects directly to a LightLoop Apple TV over your local network. Once connected, it gives you full playback control and a live confidence display — no internet required, no account, no configuration.

## Requirements

    Any Apple TV running the LightLoop tvOS app. The Apple TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network or local network as your iOS device.

    iOS 16 or later. No LightLoop account is needed on the iOS device itself.

  LightLoop Remote uses **Apple Multipeer Connectivity** — a peer-to-peer protocol that works entirely on your local network. No data leaves your building, and no internet connection is required after the app is installed.

## Connecting to an Apple TV

    Launch the app on your iPhone or iPad. It immediately begins scanning for nearby Apple TVs running LightLoop.

  <Step title="Select your Apple TV">
    Any discovered Apple TVs appear as cards on the connection screen. Tap the one you want to connect to. The connection is confirmed in a few seconds.

  <Step title="Choose a mode">
    After connecting, choose **Control Mode** or **Stage Mode**. You can switch between modes at any time from within the app.

  The next time you open the app, LightLoop Remote automatically reconnects to the last Apple TV it was paired with — no tapping required.

## The two modes

    Control Mode is designed for operators and media technicians. It shows the full playlist browser, an item grid with live thumbnails, and a 16:9 preview panel mirroring what's currently on the Apple TV screen. You can trigger any item directly from your device.

    Stage Mode is designed for worship leaders, speakers, and presenters. It displays the current slide or lyric in large, readable text — along with a preview of what's coming next. Navigation is available via large tap zones, swipe gestures, and Bluetooth page-turners.

## Multi-device sessions

Multiple iOS devices can connect to the same Apple TV simultaneously. A common setup:

* **iPhone** in the operator's hand running Control Mode
* **iPad** on a music stand or podium running Stage Mode for the presenter

All connected devices stay in sync. When the operator triggers a new item, Stage Mode updates immediately on every connected device.

  There is no limit enforced on the number of simultaneous connections, but performance is best with five or fewer devices on the same session.

## Privacy and local-network data

LightLoop Remote never transmits your content, playlist data, or church information outside your local network. All communication happens directly between the iOS device and the Apple TV over Multipeer Connectivity (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi peer-to-peer channels).

The app does not require a LightLoop account, does not store credentials, and does not connect to the LightLoop cloud during a session.
